Makes about 12 biscuits:
1 cup, Oats
(You’ll need an additional 1/2 cup of oats if you are rolling out this dough to cut into shapes)
4 tablespoons, Peanut Butter ( Made from 100% peanuts– other peanut butters may have sweeteners in them which are toxic to dogs)
1 Egg, beaten
1 tablespoon, Water
1 additional egg beaten with a bit of water for egg wash ( optional)
For Festive Rudolph Dachshunds: 3, Dried Cranberries, cut into quarters for Rudolph’s nose. DO NOT use raisins as these are highly toxic to dogs.
Pre-heat oven to 176 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Spray a baking tray with a bit of vegetable oil, and set aside.
Whizz oats in a food processor for a minute or so until it comes to a flour-like consistency. Mix 1 cup of the oats in with the peanut butter, egg, and water. Mix together until a dough is formed. If using cookie cutters, use the remaining 1/2 cup of oat flour to roll out your dough and place onto your baking tray. If you are making circular cookies, simply roll your dough into little balls, place onto your baking tray, wet the tips of your fingers to keep the mixture from sticking to you, and flatten each ball as the cookies will not spread by themselves.
Brush with egg wash and bake for about 12 minutes or until solid.
Let cool, and stick on Rudolph noses with a bit more peanut butter.
Store in an airtight container!
*We sometimes call Dorothy, our miniature dachshund, “Peanut Butter Puppy” which is why I’ve called them that. They can be enjoyed by grown up dogs too though!
