In my hometown back in the States, we had these amazing neighbours who used to bring us a bottle of this delicious drink every year! It’s fantastic and gives a slightly different festive drink option to the usual (yet still very yummy) Bailey’s! It’s about 3 weeks to Christmas so perfect time to whip up a batch for yourself or one of your lovely neighbours!
Time: About 3 weeks
3-4 Lemons
300 ml, Vodka
200 grams or 1 cup, Caster/Granulated Sugar
200 ml, Whole Milk
100 ml, Double Cream
(Double or triple recipe as needed!)
Zest the lemons, and add to the vodka.
Set aside for 2-3 weeks.
Then combine sugar, milk, and cream to a small sauce pot and, stirring constantly, heat until sugar has dissolved. This will take about 5 minutes.
Let cool completely.
Next, pouring through a fine sieve or tea strainer, add the lemony vodka to your cream mixture, and stir together.
Then, using a funnel, pour drink into festive or spare/clean bottles of your choice!
Let sit in the fridge for 3-5 days.*
Enjoy over ice!
*There may be a small layer of cream on top of the bottle, just break it with a the end of a small spoon or chopstick!
